SelectHealth and Eliza Corporation Present Healthcare Communications Strategies and Outcomes at Annual Information Therapy Conference

David Larsen, Director, Quality Improvement at SelectHealth, presented his organization's effective "BP Take Control" initiative — an innovative, multi-faceted education and support program for members with uncontrolled hypertension. It includes Eliza's phone-based, speech-enabled programs that reach out to members with personalized information tailored to their condition.

SelectHealth has seen significant improvements in their members' hypertension control since implementing the program—based on chart review six months post-intervention, 55% of hypertensive patients who interacted with Eliza's automated phone-based system and received a resource kit were considered "in control" over their condition (defined as a blood pressure reading of ≤140/90), compared to just 37.5% among a population that received only a mailing.

As an active member of the Center for Information Therapy, Eliza was invited to demonstrate, in a separate session, how its delivery of timely, interactive, and personally relevant health and benefit information is improving health outcomes – such as increasing preventive health screenings, boosting medication adherence rates, and enhancing health plans' retention efforts.
